Contrary to what you may believe at the moment, change is possible. Our brains are the most powerful muscle we have in our bodies, and it is the most untreated part of ourselves. Kristina has seen this in her own life and working with clients over the years. Kristina has been working in this field since 2014 in a multitude of different settings, multicultural backgrounds, and ages from 10 to older adults. This is a judgment-free zone, as no matter what you are wrestling with, whether big or small, a solution of hope can be found. Kristina says, “We all need someone to listen to us without judgement, to feel heard, to feel seen, and to feel valued”.
Building rapport with clients is a huge strength of Kristina’s, as building trust and empathy is an important part of the therapeutic relationship. Using a strength-based approach and solution-focused therapy combined with CBT helps build coping skills and increase hope to start seeing that positive change is possible. We all have coping skills and strengths-it is just sometimes the pain of life has gotten in the way and we need to be guided back to them. Goal setting is part of individualizing treatment to assist healing the inner critic, processing hardships, setting boundaries, assisting with communication skills, helping with core value system, or putting them back in place, and helping each client to become their own best advocate. For some clients discovering the root causes of the hardships will need to be explored and processed to find life-long healing.
Life is painful at times, but that pain can be turned into something beautiful. Struggling does not mean that our life is over-every person can be an overcomer of their struggle(s); your story isn’t over yet, because tomorrow needs you.
When Kristina is not counseling, she makes sure that self-care is a priority in her personal life. So, she spends time with her kids, her husband, and her two dogs. Kristina enjoys getting outside to play disc golf, journaling, coloring, eating good food, cleaning, and especially taking naps.
